No Sale
Season: 4
First Shown: 8 April 1976
Sales figures are down again (hey, notice a bit of a trend here) and management's come up with a new idea: why not open the store earlier, to catch people on their way to work? So the next day, Grace Brothers opens at 8:30...and the reaction is incredible! I think they've finally hit upon the answer to all of their problems...well, except that Mrs. Slocombe and Co. don't like having to be in earlier. But management certainly isn't going to change their mind about the 8:30 opening time, not with all of the sales rolling in...but what if those sales STOPPED rolling in? The staff's game plan for the next day: not to sell anything. Unfortunately, this is the day that a few big spenders decide to go shopping, and it gets hard to resist in the face of commissions...never mind that one customer appreciates the fact that Mr. Humphries and Mr. Lucas are doing their best to talk him out of purchases (such honesty!). Thank heavens that Mr. Grainger steps in to provide a lesson in how NOT to sell!
