Tiddles has gone missing, and Mrs. Slocombe is devastated trying to find her. The staff learns that Tiddles' clockwork mouse has been found near a well and they fear the cat drowned. They come up with the idea of purchasing a new pussy to give to Mrs. Slocombe, and they elect Mr. Humphries to give it to her. Meanwhile, Mrs. Slocombe has been reading Mr. Humphries' signals all wrong and thinks he wants to propose marriage. Now Mr. Humphries finds himself engaged and he goes off on his own bender! Luckily, Tiddles is found, but what will come of the engagement?
