The staff has stayed late to finish up the inventory when they learn that there are two thieves on the prowl in Grace Brothers. Miss Brahms is captured and held hostage by the thieves, who want to get into the safe in Mr. Rumbold's office. Since the master key to the building is with Miss Brahms, the only outside phone line is in Mr. Rumbold's office, and Captain Peacock and Mr. Spooner have little luck posing as detectives from Scotland Yard, it's up to Mr. Humphries, Mrs. Slocombe and Mr. Harmon to save the day. They decide to pose as the feared Gumby Gang and "take over" the burglars' heist. It kind of works....
