Mr. Rumbold falls ill with food poisoning and the rest of the staff lobbies to replace him while he's out. Mrs. Slocombe gets the spot, causing a civil war to break out on the floor: Mr. Humphries is on her side; Captain Peacock can't deal with her being above him and the rest of the staff agrees with him. Mrs. Slocombe finds that her new position isn't what she thought it would be; in fact, it's a downright bore! She wants out and tries to see if they miss her presence on the sales counter, but Miss Brahms seems to be doing exceptional as the head of the Ladies' counter. Mrs. Slocombe has to find a way out before he new position costs her to lose her union membership and therefore her sales job when Mr. Rumbold returns....
