The Father Christmas Affair

It's Christmas time, and Grace Brothers is getting all ready with its Christmas displays. The Father Christmas display sent to the fourth floor, however, is faulty: instead of opening its arms in a warm embrace, it flashes Mr. Humphries (who faints) and mangles a father and his son (on the danger list at the hospital, btw). Meanwhile, Mr. Grainger has to put of a performance, and Mr. Humphries and Mr. Lucas coach him on the finer points of dancing to "Mammy". Mr. Rumbold offers the job of acting as Father Christmas to the staff who refuse, until £50 is offered. EVERYONE tries on outfits: Mr. Lucas's was made for a midget, Mrs. Slocombe looks like a rabid monk, and Mr. Humphries' costume came from a burlesque review. Mr. Grace comes down and passes judgment: Mr. Rumbold and Captain Peacock look too evil, and he recognizes Mr. Humphries' costume from the naughty review. The secretary comes in with a black boy from the street to decide the winner, just as Mr. Grainger is coming in, still with black paint on his face that won't come off. The winner is...
